The performance is a collaboration between the State Opera-Stara Zagora and the State Puppet Theatre-Stara Zagora. Pergolesi's most frequently performed opera, the short intermezzo La Serva Padrona (The Servant Mistress, 1733) is a true musical gem from beginning to end. The plot is presented by unconventional means. The poor beautiful servant dreams of becoming a mistress, making plans to marry an elderly rich man. Director Slavcho Nikolov takes the action to 1960s New York to tell his "little story in the big city". Instead of taking place in the house of the rich man Uberto, the action takes place in the law office - of Uberto the lawyer. Timeless themes of love and human relationships are refracted through the perspective of the modern urbanite. In reality, nothing has lost its relevance - it just implies new and different means of expression, adequate to the dynamics of everyday life.

Duration: 50 min. without intermission.
Performed in Italian with subtitles in Bulgarian.
Premiere: 5.03.2016 - the stage of the State Puppet Theatre-Stara Zagora
