Unique "Green Deal" signed today by the Director of the State Opera Stara Zagora

A unique "Green Deal", which unites culture and gastronomy, was signed today in the hall of the Vereya Complex by Rumiana Grozeva, Head of the Regional Economic Development Agency /ARID/-Stara Zagora, Ognyan Draganov - Director of the Stara Zagora State Opera and Krasimira Chakhova - Manager of the Green Hill Hotel and Restaurant. It was inspired by a visit of the ARIR team to Savonlinna, Finland, where the annual opera festival turns the city not only into a cultural but also into a culinary capital of the region.
"The Green Deal provides new and interesting events on the grounds of the Green Hill Summer Garden, discounts on opera and restaurant visits, and special themed menus inspired by composers, operas, and ballets. The aim is to create services with greater added value for both residents and visitors. A new Spring/Summer themed menu will be available at Green Hill in March, and events are planned for June and July featuring artists from the Open Air Opera in the Summer Garden. Every customer of the Green Hill restaurant enjoys a 10% discount on the price of a ticket for a performance of the Stara Zagora State Opera. And everyone who bought a ticket for a performance gets a 5% discount on their bill at the restaurant. The term is 1 month from the visit of the Opera or the restaurant.
"Around all the operas I've been to in the world, there are restaurants and they are open late. So people can visit them after they have seen a performance. This is missing in Stara Zagora, our fans have commented. "Green Hill is a wonderful partner and with this deal we are doing something diverse and new in the city. This is a challenge to the people of Stara Zagora, each of whom carries in their genetic code a piece of the Stara Zagora Opera" - said Ognyan Draganov after the signing of the deal.
The other deal that was signed today is between ARIR and the Creative Collective "On the Street". It focuses on the festival "On the Green", which in June 2025 will bring together for the third consecutive year in the park "Bedechka" the fans of clean urban spaces and environmentally friendly lifestyle.
With today's event, Stara Zagora officially joined the club of Smart Cities of Europe. The first two Local Green Deals for the city aim to make the culture and tourism sectors more sustainable and more engaged with local communities and their interests. The agreements have been developed by ARRI - Stara Zagora, together with representatives from the business, cultural and NGO sectors, as part of the European Commission's Intelligent Cities Challenge initiative.
