The ballet "The Crystal Palace" to the music of the contemporary American-Maltese composer Alexey Shore is an ambitious dance project, which enters the poster of the ballet company of the Stara Zagora Opera in October 2023.
The Crystal Palace ballet tells the touching love story of court jesters. The story is set in 18th century Russia during the reign of Empress Anna Ioannovna. The main focus of the ballet is human relationships in the Crystal Palace, a world where everything is fragile. What is interesting for the viewer is that Empress Anna is a real historical figure and is the founder of the Russian Ballet School, now the famous Agrippina Vaganova Ballet Academy. Empress Anna Ioannovna loved lavish celebrations and unusual entertainments, and moved by the feelings of two of her court jesters, she decided to marry them in an ice palace built on the Neva River.
