Svetla Todorova, a well-known and loved actress from the cast of the Geo Milev State Theatre will perform in the ballet Antigone, which premieres on 27 July at the Ancient Theatre.
"I really like this symbiosis of the two arts - theatre and ballet. It is very interesting to work with the choreographer Ludovic Parti. He gives me acting assignments that include a lot of dance theatre movements. My role is interwoven into the production 4 times- at the beginning with the words of the Chorus from Jean Anouilh's play Antigone I introduce the audience to the action and introduce the participants. In my second inclusion, I have a wonderful line from the author about tragedy and how a small moment can unlock it and it can continue to unfold on its own. The third moment is very interesting, where I have to act out a frenzy, and Ludovic Party and I worked on the movements very precisely, very dynamically, very interestingly - with lifting, "growing", lifting the figure off the ground and gradually upwards....My fourth appearance with the words of Horus is at the end, when Antigone is already dead.
I graduated exactly from the Movement Theatre program at New Bulgarian University. But since my studies I have never had such an assignment and in such volume on stage. For me and with me, Ludovic Parti works as a real director - separately as an image and as an interweaving with all the other artists of the ballet company on stage. I am extremely grateful for the invitation and opportunity to work with Ludovic Parti and the young ballet company. I strongly believe that it is this interweaving, interaction and cross-fertilization of the different arts that is the point and our movement forward and is particularly enriching for us and endlessly curious for the audience."
