Astor Piazzolla (in Spanish: Astor Piazzolla) is an Argentine musician - instrumentalist and composer. He began learning to play the bandoneon at the age of 8, becoming one of the most inspired performers on the instrument. In 1939, he joined the orchestra of Anibal Troilo, one of the most celebrated tango orchestras of all time. His 1953 work Buenos Aires revolutionarily combined the bandoneón with a symphony orchestra. His own formation, the Octet Buenos Aires, in 1955 ushered in a new era in tango.
Astor Piazzolla was one of the inspirations and played the most important role in the life of the great guitarist Al Di Meola, who released albums of Piazzolla's work.
The tango that shakes, obsesses and turns everything into a single intoxicating rhythm. A whirlwind of love and passion, the very pinnacle of life! The spirit and energy of Argentine Tango, embodied in the magnetic music of Astor Piazzolla.
Astor Piazzolla is famous for being called the father and creator of Tango Nuevo, a new and revolutionary style that blends jazz rhythms and classical music with tango. Tango Nuevo was initially rejected in its homeland of Argentina, but was eventually appreciated and recognized worldwide.
