Opera at the stadium - for the first time in Bulgaria

AIDA Opera Superproduction Celebrates 100 Years of "The World is Beroe"

One of the highlights of the rich program of the anniversary celebration of Beroe Football Club is the spectacular performance of Giuseppe Verdi's opera Aida on June 6 at 21.00 at Beroe Stadium. For the first time in Bulgaria an opera performance will be presented at the stadium with the participation of two opera theatres - State Opera Stara Zagora and State Opera Ruse. The director of the performance is Ognyan Draganov, who staged "Aida" in Ruse in 2013 with the assistance of MMF "Mozart Holidays" in Pravets together with the artist Salvatore Russo - the author of the impressive costumes.

Over 300 people will take part in the new stage version: the orchestras, choirs and ballet troupes of both theatres, children from the Ballet School "Pas de Cré" and the Youth Football Club "Beroe", as well as football fans. A stellar soloist line-up will perform the main roles - the world-famous Bulgarian tenor Kamen Chanev as Radames, Tanya Ivanova as Aida, Ophelia Hristova as Amneris, Ivaylo Jurov as Ramfis, Alexander Krunev as Amonasro, Alexander Marulev as the King of Egypt, Desi Stefanova as the Priestess, Ivaylo Yovchev as the Messenger, etc. The performance will be conducted by the chief conductor of the Stara Zagora Opera Ivaylo Krinchev. Conductors of the choir are Mladen Stanev and Stelijana Dimitrova.
Especially for the performance of the opera "Aida" a huge stage with a length of 32 meters will be built at the Beroe Stadium. Currently, work is underway on the main stage structure of an 18-meter pyramid where the stage action will take place. The monumental scenography is the work of the artist of the Stara Zagora Opera Todor Demerov.

Along with the classical solutions, the performance of the opera "Aida" will offer the audience various provocations. Director Ognyan Draganov presents not only an original interpretation of the regal opera title, but as expected from "Aida" - spectacular spectacular paintings. He introduces new characters into his production - and that is the camel Shah. Shah the camel will carry the incense with dignity in the scene with Amneris, and the children of the Beroe Youth Football Club will entertain the princess with a game of small wickets.
In the spectacular triumphal stage, the colourful African dances, performed by the ballet masters Sylvia Tomova and Mariana Zaharieva, occupy an attractive place. Instead of the traditional soloist couple, another symbol appears - a ballerina-snake. The triumphal stage will shine at Beroe Stadium with lights and illuminations, and football fans will perform the victory march of Radames, which is the unofficial anthem of all football fans around the world.
The artist of some of the costumes in the mega production is the world-renowned and beloved Italian scenographer and costume designer Salvatore Russo, who is already well known in Stara Zagora for the magnificent historical costumes he created for the performance of Donizetti's opera Lucia di Lammermoor.True to his preference for the classics, Salvatore Russo dresses the operatic characters in "Aida" in cotton, chiffon and veil, accentuating exquisite accessories and glamorous additions. The performers of the main roles change more than three costumes. The adaptation of the complementary costumes will be done by Teodora Dzhambazova.

Tickets for the VIP area of Beroe Stadium are priced at 30 BGN including catering.
