Official opening of FOBI`2015

The ceremonial signal of the Festival of Opera and Ballet Art - Stara Zagora`2015 will sound for the 46th time on 23 November

The official opening of the Festival of Opera and Ballet Art is on 23 November at 19.00 on the stage of the Stara Zagora Opera House. For the 46th time the festival signal will be sounded at the unique forum-panorama of the achievements of the Bulgarian opera and ballet art. For two weeks on three stages 11 precisely selected events will be presented and Stara Zagora will become the musical capital of Bulgaria.

The organizers of the event are Stara Zagora State Opera and Stara Zagora Municipality with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture.

In the first part of the festive November evening - on 23 November, themost striking musical moments from the opera "Gergana" by Maestro Georgi Atanasov will be presented . The organizers dedicate this performance to the 90th anniversary of the Stara Zagora Opera. The opera "Gergana " by Maestro Georgi Atanasov based on the work of the same name by Petko R. Slaveykov is the first complete opera performance in the history of Stara Zagora Opera presented in 1925. Later, in 1975, its long-time artistic director Dimitar Dimitrov re-orchestrated the work and conducted a new production on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the theatre's foundation. On 23 November, the concert performance of fragments of Maestro Atanasov's classic work will feature the soloists of the Stara Zagora Opera Rusalina Mochukova, Ivaylo Yovchev, Ivan Kabamitov, Alexander Marulev and the orchestra of the Stara Zagora State Opera. Conductor Krasimir Kashev.

In the second part - the ballet of the State Opera-Stara Zagora will present its newest production - the dance performance "Timeless" - created by the talented choreographers Stanislav Genadiev and Violeta Vitanova. Timeless is a provocative dance performance created especially for the ballet company of the Stara Zagora Opera. Creativity knows no boundaries. It is born out of time and space - out of chaos. It combines creation and destruction in an amazing way. In the energy of creativity, individuality is both born and dies. The authors of the performance, Stanislav Genadiev and Violeta Vitanova, are graduates of the National School of Dance Art in Sofia. They have successfully participated in international artistic projects in Switzerland and Spain, as well as with the Sfumato Theatre Workshop, co-directed by Margarita Mladenova and Ivan Dobchev. They are winners of the first award for dance performance of the Union of Artists in Bulgaria Ikar for the production Imago (2006). In 2013 they won the Icarus Award for Dance Performance for the choreography of The Mouseketeer and Hamlet directed by Yavor Gardev. With the dance miniature 25.03 they also received the Jury Prize at the Margarita Arnaudova International Competition (2014).
