A SPECTACULAR PERFORMANCE OF THE OPERA "NABUCCO" AT THE ANTIQUE FORUM IN STARA ZAGORA ON 17 SEPTEMBER
A SPECIAL FESTIVE OFFER FOR ALL NAMESAKES
The Stara Zagora Opera House will open its pre-season September with a spectacular performance of one of Giuseppe Verdi's most beloved and popular operas "Nabucco". The stage adaptation for the outdoor stage of the Ancient Forum is directed by Ognyan Draganov and the artist Dimo Kostadinov. The Stara Zagora audience will have the opportunity to applaud star performers in the main roles - the baritone Ventseslav Anastasov, who is currently making a glittering international career, will guest in the role of Nabucco, Ivaylo Djurov, who is one of the most worthy followers of the great Bulgarian bass tradition - will be seen in the role of Zachariah, and the soloist of the Stara Zagora Opera Elena Barumova will perform in her crown role of Abigail. The young mezzo-soprano Michaela Berrova will make her debut in the role of Fenena, and Milko Mihailov will appear in the role of Ishmael. Also taking part are the soloists Emilia Djurova, Ivaylo Yovchev, Evgeni Arabadzhiev, the choir and orchestra of the State Opera-Stara Zagora. The performance will be conducted by the chief conductor of the State Opera-Stara Zagora Ivaylo Krinchev, conductor of the choir Mladen Stanev. The performance is with the special participation of the Pre-Bulgarian Survival School "Bagatur".
The performance of the opera "Nabucco" by Verdi will be presented on September 17, at 20.00 on the stage of the Antique Forum "Augusta Traiana". On 17 September the Orthodox Church commemorates the memory of the Holy Martyrs Sophia, Faith, Hope and Love - a tribute to the virtues that sustain us - faith, hope, love and wisdom.
The Stara Zagora Opera has a special festive offer for the namesakes Sofia, Sofka, Sofi, Vyara, Vera, Verka, Nadezhda, Nadia, Nadine, Lubov, Lubomira, Lubomir, Luba, Lubo, Lubcho, Luben. The opera Nabucco is the third opera of Giuseppe Verdi's early oeuvre, but it was already a triumphant success with its first performance in 1842 at the Scala di Milano. The plot, inspired by the biblical epic, is filled with the pathos of freedom.
The Stara Zagora Opera Theatre presented for the first time outside the capital the unfading work of the great Italian maestro Giuseppe Verdi on 17 May 1967 with conductor Veselin Nenov, director Stoyan Velev and artist Peter Ruskov, chorus conductor Bogdana Popova. Since then Nabucco has hardly left the repertoire of the State Opera - Stara Zagora.
It was followed by productions in 1982, 1995, 1997, 2001 and 2011. The performances enjoy unchanging interest at home and abroad. In the spring of 2011, the opera Nabucco was performed 25 times before demanding audiences in Belgium and the Netherlands.
