The most popular opera of all time "Carmen" by Georges Bizet will come to life on the Tsarevets Hill in Veliko Tarnovo on August 27 at 21.00. After the triumph of "Nabucco" /on 23 July/ the two opera theatres - the Stara Zagora and Burgas opera houses, will present the stirring operatic drama in its full colour. Conductor Ivaylo Krinchev, director Ognyan Draganov. The scenography has been specially prepared by the artist of the Stara Zagora Opera Todor Demerov for the open stage of the historical fortress Tsarevets. The attractive ballet canvases featuring the two ballet companies were created by prima ballerina and choreographer Silvia Tomova. Conductors of the choir Mladen Stanev and Nevena Mihailova. On 27 August the role of Carmen will be performed by the temperamental Daniela Dyakova - a singer for whom this role is emblematic. Kaludi Kaludov will visit the stage in the role of Don José, and the young talented baritone Valery Turmanov will perform the role of the Toreador Escamillo. The brilliant soprano Vesselina Vassileva will guest in the role of Micaela. The other roles will be played by bass Delyan Slavov as Tsuniga, Denis Ivanov /Morales/, Yanitsa Nesheva /Frasquita/, Gergana Rusekova /Mercedes/, Ivaylo Yovchev /Ramendado/, Teodor Petkov /Dan Cairo/, etc. Also taking part are the Children's Choir "Margaritki" with conductor Zornitsa Zhelyazkova, representatives of the Pre-Bulgarian Survival School "Baga-Tur", orchestra, choir and ballet of the State Opera-Stara Zagora and State Opera-Burgas.
The world tenor Kaludi Kaludov performed for the second time on the open stage of the Tsarevets Fortress in Veliko Tarnovo in the role of Don José in the opera Carmen by Georges Bizet. Admirers of his art all over the world affectionately call him the singer with the "voice of an angel", and the demanding music critics often compare the beauty of his timbre and his unique "legato" with the standards of bel canto set by the legendary Italian tenors. The newspaper "Lyrica" - Trieste, Italy noted after Kaludi Kaludov's participation in the performance of the opera "Manon Lescaut" at Teatro Verdi-Trieste /before singing in the same production on the stage of the Milanese Scala/: "We know that among the tenor parts written by Puccini, the role of De Greio is too difficult and responsible. He surprised and delighted us with the timbre of his voice. Such a voice has not been heard for many years - crystal clear in all registers, reminding us of the young Carlo Bergonzi"...
Within the framework of the first Summer Season of the Bulgarian Opera Theatres "Stage of the Ages" 2016, organized by the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo and the Municipal Agency for Tourism "Tsarevgrad Tarnovo", Kaludi Kaludov will take part on 29 July in the performance of the opera "Aida" by Verdi at the Ruse Opera, and a month later - on 27 August, he will be Don José in the opera "Carmen" by Bizet - a joint mega production of the Stara Zagora and Burgas Operas. Kaludi Kaludov's Don José /"Carmen"/ is unique and deeply impactful with his vivid transformation: from a serious and responsible, through happily in love to a man madly desperate to the extreme. The beauty of his timbre is revealed even more in the interpretation of the sparkling French music.
