Kaludi Kaludov and his Tosks

Kaludi Kaludov - on his birthday /15 March/ in Stara Zagora

The world tenor performs the role of Cavaradossi in the premiere performance of the opera Tosca

Kaludi Kaludov is coming to Stara Zagora to take part in the preparations for the upcoming premiere of Puccini's opera Tosca, which will take place on 18 March at 7 p.m. on the Opera House stage. The tenor will play one of the landmark roles of his career - that of the artist Mario Cavaradossi. A role that the singer always performs with pleasure because it is also close to his artistic soul. Outside of singing and vocal pedagogy, the Maestro enjoys painting, writing poems and short stories.

Kaludi Kaludov and his Tosks

Kaludi Kaludov made his debut in the role of Cavaradossi at the time when he was at the height of his international career - he was invited by the director of the Poznan Opera, Poland to participate in a tour of the theatre in Belgium and the Netherlands with performances of the opera Tosca.

"I will never forget my first performance in Utrecht with soprano Sofia Kujawinska as Tosca and Jurek Mechlinski as Scarpia. Travelling to Holland I was still finishing my last lines. Although already after a dress rehearsal in Poznan. I sang eight performances. It was more than wonderful. After that, engagements in different countries and theatres came. I have sung with amazing singers - in Bulgaria and around the world! Galina Kalinina made a huge impression on me. A Russian beauty with incredible finesse in her stage presence. She was thin and subtle and had an incredible temperament. We sang in Malaga - the city of the great and inimitable Carlos Alvarez.

One day my agent called and offered me a concert performance of Tosca, conducted by Pappano. I accepted, of course. It happened in Israel. The soprano who performed the role of Tosca was Alexandra Mark. This amazing singer, she created magic with her voice.

The Romanian singer Nelly Miricioiu, who had already sung with me in the opera Francesca da Rimini, was my next Tosca. Similar to Callas, but with a much softer and warmer character, she won me over not only with her vocal skill, but also with her charm as a person.

Many years passed until fate decided to introduce me to our unique and amazing singer Ana Tomova - Sintov in the role of Tosca. That was the "icing on the cake" for me. We sang at the Stätsoper Unter den Linden. It was unforgettable! The joy of being together with Ana Tomova on stage is indescribable. Prepossessing and honest, making music and singing with the passion of a great fighter and competitor, not whining but dedicated, she dragged after her. I am grateful to my fate for allowing me to touch a colossus in this opera."

On March 18, Kaludi Kaludov will sing on the stage of the Stara Zagora Opera with soprano Tanya Ivanova in the role of Tosca. The talented singer has already made her successful debut in this role on the stage of the Sofia Opera. The role of Scarpia will be performed by Alexander Krunev - the baritone is considered by the experts as one of the best interpreters of this role in Bulgaria. At the conductor's desk will stand the great Argentinian conductor Mario de Rosse, who is visiting Stara Zagora for the first time. The new production of the opera Tosca is directed by Ognyan Draganov, who has conceived an original telling of the exciting dramatic story and a complete transformation of the stage space with an impressive and impressive three-dimensional vision. The stage adaptation is by the artist Todor Demerov. Also taking part are the soloists Alexander Marulev, Stoyan Bonchev, Evgeniy Arabadzhiev, Milko Mikhailov, Georgi Dinev, Ivaylo Yovchev, Teodor Petkov, Lyubomir Petkov, Bogomil Rusenov, the Vocal Formation of the DYSSOB "Margaritki" under the direction of Zornitsa Zhelyazkova, the Pre-Bulgarian Survival School "Baga-Tour", the orchestra, choir and ballet of the State Opera-Stara Zagora.
