Ballet of the State Opera Stara Zagora and Ballet "Arabesque" are visiting the stage of the Youth Theatre in Sofia on 25 March
On 25 March at 19.00 on the stage of the Nikolay Binev Youth Theatre the Ballet of the State Opera-Stara Zagora and the Arabesque Ballet will present their latest productions "Timeless" and "Blah, blah..." to the Sofia audience in an evening dedicated to contemporary dance. The premieres of the one-act dance performances took place at the end of last year with great success in Stara Zagora and Sofia. Ognyan Draganov, the director of the State Opera Stara Zagora, chose the stage of the Youth Theatre for the joint performance of the two ballet companies because he is convinced that everyone should experience the freedom and timelessness of modern dance. To the messages that both performances carry. Because dance has confidently jumped into the new millennium with its achievements. Much more than opera. Dance has found its way to its youngest audience - music, modern dance techniques are much closer to modern man and his world-feelings.
The ultramodern dance performance "Timeless"
Lights flicker in the darkness, moving, pulsating and drawing abstract figures. Evocative music, resembling the sounds of nature, sounds a poetic picture with cosmic projections. There is a sense of timelessness - the kind that overwhelms us when we look at the star-studded sky on a clear summer night. The star pictures keep rearranging themselves with smooth and measured movements, as in the mysterious theatre of shadows...
Thus begins the dance performance of the ballet of the State Opera-Stara Zagora. "Timeless" by the young but already established names in the world of dance - Stanislav Genadiev and Violeta Vitanova. Timeless is the chosen theme that ignites their creative imagination and with the help of Stanislava Simeonova the two outline the main points of the conceptual project. The music is ROBOKNOB - electronic music created on the spur of the moment using sound sources, drum machines and synthesizers. The music is specially prepared for the performance and it undergoes its transformations after meeting the artists. For a week the composer Yassen Georgiev works on the spot in the Stara Zagora Opera House and makes the changes according to the creative overlay with the participation of the dancers. For most of the ballet dancers, the new choreographic tasks are unusual, seemingly strange, but they trust the choreographers and willingly become collaborators. The complex plastic movements are gradually mastered and the moment comes when everyone is subject to the creative timelessness that can last forever without deadlines and limitations.
Stanislav Genadiev and Violeta Vitanova have been working in tandem for a long time. They have known each other since their teenage years and have managed to create their own harmonious world. They complement each other and create together. Seekers, brave experimenters, open to new and new challenges. They are happy with the opportunity to realize their new and special project on the stage of the State Opera Stara Zagora, they are fascinated by the ballet company of the theatre and expect that this stage will be a place for many more young and talented artists. "Timeless" is just the beginning, in which the choreographers reveal their talent and unique artistic style.
DYNAMISM, VIRTUOSITY AND FUN IN THE LATEST PREMIERE OF BALLET ARABESQUE "BLAH, BLAH..."
American choreographer Maurice Causey's dance piece "Blah, Blah..." set to music by Johnny Trank and the Juice Ensemble explores our complex reality with lightness and humor. A dynamic performance with virtuoso dance, funny characters placed in absurd situations on the edge of the tragic and comic. The show deals with the eternal clichés in gender relations, the "games" we play advertising ourselves, in which everyone hides their little secrets and fetishes.
Blah, Blah... dance performance moves away from the usual gloomy depressiveness of modern ballets and offers a humorous take on serious issues. For the pleasure of the audience. The show is fresh and energizing thanks to the performances of the brilliant young stars of Ballet Arabesque - Andrea Andonova, Victoria Petrova, Petya Koleva, Vasil Dipchikov, Stefan Vuchov and Philip Milanov and the icing on the cake, the experimental and always surprising Angelina Gavrilova.
The performance is supported by the U.S. Embassy in Bulgaria, together with the Space for Dance Foundation.
